this years charity is Fleet

The Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust (FLEET) charity has supported the ambulance service in Cornwall for over 18 years. Thanks to its team of fundraisers and the generosity of people throughout the county, FLEET has spent an amazing £1.5million on life saving equipment with the majority of funds used to purchase ambulance equipment and paramedic bags.

The success of FLEET owes much to the determined work of its members. Clinical Support Officer Norman Trebilcock MBE was recently recognised for his dedication and commitment to the charity with his prestigious title. Working with Eric Buchanan, the charity’s treasurer, they have given countless hours to raising funds to purchase ambulance equipment as well as a mobile treatment centre to treat casualties with minor injuries.

Fund raising events such as The Lostwithiel Festival are essential in helping to raise these funds as well as acting as a vehicle to tell people about the essential work that the charity carries out. All profits from todays event will go directly to FLEET to purchase new equipment.

The First Responder Scheme in Cornwall is one of the many services in which FLEET is involved. The scheme works to train members of the public in what are normally rural or isolated areas to deal with incidents such as cardiac arrests or choking. These people are often first on the scene when such an incident occurs and provide a quick response before an ambulance arrives. By helping to provide training and equipment to many First Responder groups, FLEET helps facilitate an invaluable service to the local community.

There are two First Responders based in Lostwithiel, where the group was first established four years ago. We invite you to find out more about FLEET, the service it offers and help support this vital local charity by supporting The Lostwithiel Festival.
